Annemieke Struyk was born and raised in the Huntsville community. From a young age Annemieke showed an aptitude for all things artistic and a developed a love of her natural surroundings, not the least of which were of the equine variety. During her high school years she was privileged to be sponsored by the Algonquin academy of Wilderness and Wildlife Art which encouraged her in her artistic endeavors.

Following high school, Annemieke went on to attend the Ontario College of Art and Design, in Toronto, where she studied drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. It was here that she discovered her true love of glass which led to an apprenticeship under Dianne Macloed of Toronto’s Celestial Stained Glass. Following her apprenticeship, she returned to her roots and the unique quiet beauty and peaceful starry nights of Muskoka (for which her company is named) and built a studio adjacent to the Back of Beyond Equine Centre which is owned by her family.

It is an unparalleled joy for her to have the opportunity to devote her life to the art she loves, here in her home community, where her heart has always been.
