Equine Assisted Learning is a form of self directed learning through hands on experiences with horses. By working with horses, as non-judgmental teachers, participants mirror real life situations, increase self awareness, practice leadership skills and develop greater self esteem.

  Back of Beyond offers a special opportunity for young children, and the young at heart, to learn horsemanship skills with a very extraordinary pony, the Great Gazoo and a special horse, the gentle Star.

  Breeding quality Oldenburg, Canadian Warmblood horses and Sport Ponies, has been a focus of the Back of Beyond Equine Centre for many years. Individual attention is given to each foal to ensure they develop to their full potential, are outstanding individuals in conformation, temperament and ability and have had a wholesome and contented start in life. Back of Beyond also provides a unique opportunity for individuals wanting to purchase a quality young performance prospect and be involved in their training and development.

  Horses and Riders, in training at Back of Beyond, are privileged to have the benefit of the considerable talents of level 2 dressage coach, Karen Parfitt. Karen is an experienced coach and trainer, has competed to 4th level dressage (on Trinity Bay) and trained under Gary Van der Ploeg and Lee Tubman. Karen’s approach to training is consistent with the principles of horsemanship that produce contented, willing mounts and effective, successful riders.

  Rider Development Program consists of three supervised/lesson rides per week, on Back of Beyond horses with a focus on developing the rider’s skills, effectiveness and overall riding ability.

  Back of Beyond focuses on developing successful equine/human partnerships, on the ground and in the saddle. All the horses at Back of Beyond Equine Centre are handled with respect, fairness and understanding by trained personnel using Natural and Collaborative Horsemanship methods.
